Jamie Rickers is the presenter
of GMTV’s weekend show for kids TOONATTIK (Saturdays and
Sundays from 7.25am) as well as CITV’s ‘PROVE IT’, ‘The YUK
Show’ and the film special's including ‘Brother Bear’,
‘Chiken Little’, ‘Narnia’, ‘Shaggy Dog’ and ‘Open Season’.
Born in Chelmsford, Essex, Jamie grew up in
Burnham-On-Crouch, a small village near Southend, and went
to school at St Peter's High School in Burnham. Jamie left
school at 16 and joined the Colchester Institute School of
Music and Drama, studying for his Music Foundation A-level
and gaining a BA Honours Music degree in 1996.
Jamie’s first job in broadcasting was working as a programme
runner for LWT. During his career he has also worked as
researcher and Celebrity Booker on ‘Michael Barrymore’s My
Kind of Music’, ‘Kids Say the Funniest Things’, ‘Audience
with The Bee Gees’ and ‘Audience with The Spice Girls’ for
LWT.
Jamie has also worked on LWT’s
‘Caught Red Handed’, with Andi Peters on ‘Andi Meets
Britney’, the CITV awards and ‘The Richard Blackwood Show’.
Jamie joined GMTV in 2000 and produced and presented the
popular weekend kids’ show ‘Up On The Roof’ for 5 years. He
has also presented competition strands and live reports for
the breakfast TV station.
In 2000 Jamie presented ‘Water Warriors’ for Carlton TV,
which won an RTS Award for Best Entertainment Show.
In July 2002 Jamie landed the role of presenter on CBBC’s
brand new game show ‘All or Nothing’ and in March 2003 he
became presenter on CITV’s factual entertainment show,
‘TheYuk Show’. Jamie has also presented two series of ‘Prove
It’ for CITV and the ‘Ultimate Guinness World Records’ show
on Sky in 2005. and ‘UP 4 IT’ for DISCOVERY KIDS. Jamie’s
talents extend to theatre and he has appeared in panto twice
as the cheeky characters ‘Buttons’ and ‘Wishy Washy’.
